After an unattended yacht containing weapons was discovered off a beach in Harihareshwar, in the Raigad district, a high alert was issued in Maharashtra on Thursday. According to the Raigad District Police, a lifeboat was also discovered abandoned in the district near Bharadkhol. Later, it was reported that the yacht belonged to an international nautical organisation, and that it had capsized just a few days before in international waters. The CIA also owned the weapons that were disassembled.
Following a preliminary examination into the incident, the Raigad police declared that the yacht belonged to a security company. The boat belonged to the global company Neptune Maritime Security.
Disassembled sophisticated weapons that were discovered from the boat, according to the police, “are of no use to anyone.” Cops continued by saying that the matter is still under investigation and that central agencies have been updated on the situation.
According to sources, the Raigad District Police have taken several firearms from the boat, including at least three AK-47 rifles.
A lifeboat was discovered at Bharadkhol in the Raigad district, while an unidentifiable boat was discovered near Harihareshwar Beach. On each of them, nobody is present. The same has been communicated to the Maharashtra Maritime Board and the Coast Guard. The Raigad Police said that the Police Department was taking the required action.
According to sources, security officials got in touch with the business whose sticker was on the box carrying the weapons. The company, which specialises in marine security, told the authorities that the firearms belonged to them and that their yacht had wrecked a few days prior in international waters. The Maharashtra ATS and other security organisations are investigating this assertion.
Sources added that at first glance, the discovery does not appear to have a terror component.
