Womens Hockey World Cup 2022: After England, India also plays a 1-1 draw against China

Failing to seize their chances, the Indian women’s hockey team played out a second successive draw against China in Pool B of the World Cup and were tied 1-1 on Tuesday. Earlier, in the match too, India had played a 2-2 draw with England. Now India has to play its last match against New Zealand on 7 July.

For China, Zheng Jiali scored in the 26th minute. Vandana Katariya scored for India in the 45th minute when her stick hit a penalty corner on Gurjit Kaur.

In the first two quarters, India had the upper hand under the control of the ball and they also created many chances but could not convert into goals. On the other hand, the Chinese players retaliated and breached the Indian defense. In the ninth minute, Navneet Kaur made the first attempt on the goal, which was saved by Chinese goalkeeper Liu Ping. India came close to scoring in the 23rd minute but the ball hit the goalpost. Jyothika scored on the rebound but it was declared invalid after the referral.

Soon after, India got a penalty corner but it could not be converted into a goal. By halftime, China had taken a 1-0 lead. In the second half, India got two consecutive penalty corners in the 42nd minute but this time too they failed to score. And at the 45th minute Vandana Katariya scored for India. Earlier, Team India had registered an easy victory in the last two encounters with China.
