Wimbledon 2022: Djokovic won the match after losing the first two sets, reached the semi-finals for the 11th time

Tennis legend Novak Djokovic made it to the semi-finals of the Wimbledon tennis tournament on Tuesday by defeating Jannik Sinner in the quarter-finals. The top seed defeated Sinner 5-7, 2-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-2 to win her 7th Wimbledon title. Djokovic recorded his 26th consecutive win at the All England Club, having won a total of 20 Grand Slam titles so far. He has won 10 of their 11 matches in five sets at this venue, with the Serbian’s last loss being in 2006.

Germany’s Tatjana Maria, 34, defeated compatriot Jule Niemeier 4-6, 6-2, 7-5 in the women’s singles quarter-finals to seal her place in the last four. Maria will be playing the semi-finals of the Grand Slam for the first time. She ranked 103rd in the world rankings. To fix the place in the finals, she will face the winner of the quarter-final Ons Jabeur.

Maria is the sixth woman in the Open era to play a Wimbledon semi-final at this age. Twenty-two-year-old Niemeier, playing her second Grand Slam, looked very disappointed after this defeat. Earlier, she had crashed out in the opening round of the French Open.
