Virat Kohli Equals Rohit Sharma’s Record During His Sensational Innings vs Hong Kong

As the defending champions faced Hong Kong in their Asia Cup 2022 match on Wednesday, August 31, in Dubai, former India captain Virat Kohli broke a six-month T20I cricket drought by scoring a fifty. The top hitter, Virat Kohli, displayed indications of regaining his form by scoring the first fifty runs by a batter in the ongoing Asia Cup in the UAE. Following up on his strong 35 against Pakistan, Kohli finished with unbeaten 59 against Hong Kong.

In just 7 overs, Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav combined for 98 runs, helping India upset Hong Kong for 192 for 2 at the end of 20 overs. India quickly advanced from 94 for 2 at the end of the 13th over to record 192 thanks to Suryakumar, who struck six sixes and as many boundaries, including four in the final over.

Virat Kohli matched Rohit Sharma’s record for the most fifty-plus scores in T20I cricket with his 31st T20I fifty, his first in the format since the home series against the West Indies in February.
