Twenty-nine trainee mountaineers were trapped in an avalanche which hit Draupadi’s Danda-2 mountain peak in Uttrakhand. The rescue operation is going on and till now 8 of them have been successfully rescued by Disaster management team.
Uttarakhand police chief Ashok Kumar said that all the trainees are from the Nehru Mountaineering Institute of Uttarkashi. Helicopters of Indian Airforce are in action and putting all possible efforts, he added.
The teams of National Disaster Response force, the State Disaster Response force and the Indo-Tibetan Border Police are also part of the rescue operation, CM Dhami’s office said.
“Rapid relief and rescue operations are being carried out by the district administration, NDRF, SDRF, Army and ITBP personnels along with the team of NIM to rescue the trainees trapped in the avalanche in Draupadi’s Danda-2 mountain-peak at the earliest”, the CM’s Office tweeted.
The cases of avalanche are very much in news nowadays. The experts say, it is happening due to changing climate and global warming. The temperature of the Earth is rising at alarming rate.
