Two Arrested In Andheri’s Teen Death After Body Identified, Stuffed In Suitcase

The police reported on Saturday that two suspects has been arrested in Gujarat for the murder of a 15-year-old Andheri, Mumbai, girl whose body was found stuffed inside a suitcase. Vanshita Kanaiyalal Rathod, the girl whose identification was confirmed, was found dead with her body removed from a bag close to the Naigaon train station in the Palghar region of Maharashtra.

More than a day had passed since she was last located. The girl’s body was discovered in a bag on the side of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Highway with stab wounds to her abdomen, as per Inspector Rahulkumar Patil of the Waliv police station. A towel, a few pieces of clothing, and a school uniform from an Andheri-based institution were all included in the bag.

Patil further said, “the murdered girl was living in the Andheri district of Mumbai” and “a case of kidnapping was reported at the Andheri police station”. When we called the Andheri police, we identified the girl.

Police reports stated that, the girl left for school in the morning of August 25 but didn’t go home until the evening. Her parents reported her missing after searching the area thoroughly and failing to locate her.

The authorities used CCTV cameras to track the suspect from Andheri to Naigaon railway stations. The Andheri police had started a kidnapping case because the missing person was a minor. At the Waliv police station in Vasai, a case was opened under section 302 after her body was found (murder).
