According to highly placed insiders, the threat was received on the traffic control cell’s WhatsApp number from a Pakistani number, and the sender stated that if his ‘location was tracked,’ it would be discovered to be outside India. The message warned that the incident will occur in Mumbai.
He also notified the traffic control cell that ‘six people in India would carry out the attack’.
According to top police sources, security personnel are investigating the threat. They also stated that authorities are looking into the potential of the call being a hoax.
The 2008 Mumbai attacks began on November 26, 2008, when ten members of Lashkar-e-Taiba, a Pakistani Islamist terrorist organisation, carried out 12 synchronised shooting and bombing operations throughout Mumbai over the course of four days.
The latest threats come only two days after a boat containing three AK-47 rifles and ammo drifted to the Raigad shore and became stranded at Harihareshwar Beach.
Though a potential terror threat has been ruled out, the ATS and Raigad Police are conducting a thorough probe.
