Think what we can do for women work force: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday inaugurated the two-day National Labour Conference, a meeting of Labour Ministers and Labour Secretaries from Union Territories and States in Tirupati.

India could achieve targeted results, in line with Vision 2047, by making the right use of women power, he added .

Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered his inaugural address via video link at a two-day conference of labor ministers and secretaries of states and union territories here, saying, “We have to think what more we can do for our women workforce, particularly in the emerging sectors. We can make good use of women ‘s power by adopting flexible work hours, which is the future need.”

Modi also noted that India lagged behind in taking advantage of the first three Industrial Revolutions, and added that the country should take rapid decisions, and implement them rapidly, as the fourth Industrial Revolution comes to an end.

He said the country is now reforming and simplifying its labour laws, which is why 29 laws were converted into four “simple labour codes. The goal is to empower workers by providing them with minimum wages, job security, social security, and health insurance,” Modi said.

The Prime Minister said the Emergency Credit Line Guarantee Scheme for small and medium industries helped save 1.5 crore jobs during the covid-19 pandemic in the country.

In the midst of the pandemic, the Emergency Credit Guarantee Scheme has saved 1.5 crore jobs, according to a study, adding that workers have put their full strength to help the country recover. India is once again growing at the fastest rate in the world, so a great deal of credit goes to our workers,” he said.
