M.K. Stalin, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, authorized compensation of up to 20,000 per hectare for crops that were ready for harvest during the kuruvai, kar, and sornavari seasons but instead were completely wrecked by the recent tragic rains that battered various parts of the state.
Mr. Stalin also issued orders to officials to deliver agricultural input provision estimated at $6,038 per hectare to farmers whose samba crops had already been damaged, including an announcement today. 45 kg paddy seeds for short-duration varieties, 25 kg compost, 60 kg urea, and 125 kg DAP fertilizers would be included in the input supply.
Mr. Stalin additionally ordered that a sum of Rs. 300 crore be granted for the rehabilitation of roads and other civic infrastructure devastated by the rains. Earlier in the day, a committee of ministers led by Cooperation Minister I. Periasamy inspected the Cauvery delta regions to assess the damage caused by rainfall and submitted its observations to the Chief Minister.
Mr. Stalin gathered with members of the team, which include Agriculture Minister M.R.K. Panneerselvam, School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi, Law Minister S. Regupathy, Minister for Youth Welfare Siva V. Meyyanathan, Industries Minister Thangam Thennarasu, Food Minister R. Sakkarapani, and Rural Development Minister K.R. Periakaruppan before making the announcement.
