According to information, a request for a Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigation into the recent Bihar liquor catastrophe, which resulted in the deaths of 28 persons, has been made to the Supreme Court on Friday.
The plea was brought up for urgent listing before a bench made up of Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud and Justice P S Narasimha. The petitioner must follow the right processes in order for the petition to be listed, the Supreme Court further intimated to the lawyer Pawan Prakash Pathak that, who raised the matter.
The Supreme Court will wrap up its business on Friday before starting a two week break for the winter. The Supreme Court will resume on January 2. A senior Saran district officer reported that the death toll from the Bihar liquor disaster has risen to 28.
As of Thursday night, 28 individuals had reportedly passed away in the region from what authorities believe to be alcohol poisoning, as per Saran District Magistrate Rajesh Meena. As stated by the DM, steps have also been made to punish the concerned officials.
In April 2016, the Nitish Kumar management banned the sale and consumption of alcohol in Bihar. The BJP opposition party in Bihar asserted on Friday that the state government had concealed the actual death toll from the booze tragedy.
