Under the captaincy of HARMANPREET KAUR, Supernovas claimed their third title of the Womens T20 Challenge 2022 after defeating velocity by 4 runs. After an all-round performance from DEANDRA DOTTIN (who also bagged the player of match and the player of tournament award) and some fireworks from their skipper HARMANPREET KAUR, Supernovas managed to post a fighting total of 165 runs for a loss of 7 wickets.
While chasing the gettable total, Velocity got off to a flier scoring 28 runs in the first two overs. but after that they kept losing wickets at regular intervals after the fall of Shafali Verma. They failed to build partnerships in the middle overs and that cost them.
After Supernovas were given a fright in the final over, Ecclestone came through for them. They appeared to have the game in hand, but in the final few overs, LAURA WOLVAARDT turned it on and SIMRAN BAHADUR played a blinder. They eventually hold on by four runs to win their third championship in four editions. Given the power of Velocity’s lineup, 166 runs on this pitch didn’t seem out of reach, but Supernovas had their game plan in place and executed it flawlessly. Only in the final few overs things started to get interesting, resulting in a thrilling finale to the tournament.
