In the Barkheda neighbourhood of Raisen district, around 50 kilometres from the Madhya Pradesh state capital Bhopal, a 20-year-old engineering student was discovered dead on the railroad tracks on Sunday. A message apparently received from his phone to his father and close friends has added to the intrigue surrounding his death, even though no suicide note has been discovered. His Instagram account featured similar content. According to the message, “those sinning against the Prophet” will be beheaded. Police claimed to be looking into every possibility.
The message, according to Nishank Rathore’s father Umashankar Rathore, a state government employee, suggests that his son may have been murdered. “My son has never published anything on social media that was contentious in terms of religion and may get him into trouble. The text message he received from his phone and a related Instagram post imply that he didn’t truly commit suicide but may have been the victim of murder instead “says he.
Nishank, a student at a Bhopal-area private engineering college, rented a scooter on Sunday and went for a drive. He was captured on camera near a toll booth heading in the direction of Narmadapuram, but he suddenly appeared to alter his mind and turn toward Bhopal.
The student allegedly had debts due to his investment in cryptocurrencies. Everyone who had knowledge of Nishank’s investments has given their testimony to the police, including a member of the minority group who lives in Bhopal. He allegedly let Nishank borrow Rs 24,000 from him.
Mr. Rathore claimed to be aware of his son’s cryptocurrency investments. But I find it hard to imagine that he borrowed so heavily from others for it that the stress of debt drove him to kill himself. According to Mr. Rathore, his son returned home on July 13 and cast his vote in the local body elections. He said, “I had sent 50,000 into my daughter’s account to assist Nishank in paying his college tuition. He had only seen his sisters on Friday”.
The short postmortem report from the AIIMS, Bhopal, has confirmed that he was struck by a train, according to the local police. Investigations into the matter are continuing. It has been decided to send Nishank’s cellphone for forensic examination. According to senior police officer Amrit Meena, the police are interviewing everyone connected to the individual in Bhopal, including his family and close acquaintances.
