Smoking is prohibited at Air India’s workplace

The Tata group has banned smoking and the consumption of intoxicating substances at work since reclaiming ownership of Air India.

Suresh Dutt Tripathi, Air India’s chief human resources officer (CHRO), warned personnel not to smoke or consume intoxicating substances in a letter.

“We are a responsible organisation that absolutely prohibits smoking and usage of any intoxicating substances in the workplace,” the letter added. The Tata Code of Conduct’s main principles bind us all to follow the law of the land and ensure a safe and healthy working environment for our employees. We have zero tolerance for any of the above offences. Any breach is taken seriously, and suitable sanctions will be imposed”.

“We would not wish to make any remark on any internal communication like this,” an Air India spokeswoman said when questioned about the letter.
