The owners of franchises in the future South African T20 league purchased all six of the league’s teams. Newlands in Cape Town was purchased by Reliance Industries Limited, owners of the Mumbai Indians. The proprietors of the Lucknow Super Giants, RPSG Sports Private Limited, purchased Kingsmead in Durban.
Sun TV Network, the owners of Sunrisers Hyderabad, made a winning offer for St. George’s Park in Gqeberha (formerly Port Elizabeth). Johannesburg’s Wanderers purchased by Chennai Super Kings Cricket Limited. Boland Park in Paarl was purchased by the Rajasthan Royals’ owners. JSW Sports, the company that owns the Delhi Capitals, purchased the SuperSport Park franchise.
Deloitte Corporate Finance’s open bid procedure drew more than “29 organisations that wanted to acquire a franchise globally“. There were more than ten sites made available for prospective bidders to purchase a franchise, and all ten of them received interest submissions.
“The South African League, which will take place in January and February 2023, is excited to welcome its new franchise owners, according to Commissioner for the new league Graeme Smith”. The tremendous interest in South African cricket indicates that the nation is still regarded in the wider cricketing community, and it is a very exciting period for the sport.

As they bring balance and experience to the League, the various owners solid sporting backgrounds and the international businesses they oversee, and ensure that South African cricket and the industry as a whole will profit from their skills and resources.
The league will start the following year. Graeme Smith Has also stated that, “We have already signed contracts with several top international athletes, who will be revealed soon. Fans and stakeholders can be confident that the new League will include fascinating talent and skill thanks to our strong South African player base”.
