Russia warns Lithuania for trammeling rail road

Tuesday, as Russian soldiers advanced in the strategically important Donbas area of Ukraine, Moscow threatened Lithuania with “severe” repercussions for their limitation of rail access to the Russian exclave of Kaliningrad.

The governor of the area claimed that Kremlin forces were wreaking “catastrophic havoc” in Lysychansk, an industrial city in the epicentre of fighting in the eastern Donbas. Russia has captured the frontline village of Toshkivka, according to Ukraine.

In the Lugansk area, the governor Sergiy Gaiday claimed that “every town and village” controlled by the Ukrainians was “under nearly non-stop fire.”

Moscow is concentrating its onslaught on the crucial Donbas area after being driven out of Kyiv and other regions of Ukraine during its invasion in February.

On Tuesday, Russia threatened “severe” repercussions for Vilnius’ limitations on rail trade to the exclave of Kaliningrad, intensifying its verbal spat with EU member Lithuania.

Lithuania claims it is only upholding sanctions imposed on Moscow by the whole EU, but Russia retaliated by charging Brussels with “escalation.”

The EU Representative to Russia was called by Moscow. Lithuania’s actions “violate the applicable legal and political duties of the European Union,” according to its Foreign Ministry.

According to the regional police head for Kyiv, fatalities of the Russian invasion attempt on the Ukrainian capital city are still being discovered on the ground. There have been 1,333 civilian deaths so far, and 300 persons are still unaccounted for.
