Qatar Summons Indian Envoy Over Controversial Remarks On Prophet Mohammed

The Qatar Ministry of Foreign Affairs called Indian Ambassador Deepak Mittal and presented him with an official message expressing disappointment, absolute rejection, and condemnation of the inflammatory remarks made against Prophet Mohammed by now-suspended and expelled BJP officials.

In reaction, Mittal stated that the tweets do not represent the views of the Indian government. These are the viewpoints of the fringe elements.

The Qatar ministry of foreign affairs said, “He Mr Soltan bin Saad Al-Muraikhi, the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of the State, handed this note to the Ambassador of the Republic of India. The State of Qatar welcomed the statement issued by the ruling party in India in which it announced the suspension of the party’s official from practicing his activities in the party due to his remarks that angered all Muslims around the world.”

According to the note, more than two billion Muslims around the world follow Prophet Mohammed’s teaching, which came as a message of peace, understanding, and tolerance, as well as a beacon of light for Muslims all over the world.

The Indian embassy’s spokesperson said in an official statement, “Ambassador had a meeting in the foreign office in which concerns were raised with regard to some offensive tweets by individuals in India denigrating the religious personality.”

“The tweets, according to the ambassador, do not reflect the views of the Indian government in any way. It stated that these are the viewpoints of fringe elements.

“The government of India offers the highest respect to all religions, in keeping with our civilisational legacy and strong cultural traditions of unity in diversity.” It went on to say that “severe action has already been taken against individuals who uttered the insulting statements.”

“Concerned quarters have also published a statement expressing respect for all religions, rejecting insult to any religious personality, and denigrating any religion or sect,” according to the Indian embassy.
The news comes as Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu met with Qatar’s Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani in Doha on Sunday, where the two leaders held delegation-level talks and discussed bilateral relations, including trade, investment, economic cooperation, and security cooperation.

On Saturday, Naidu arrived in Doha on the last phase of his three-nation tour, which lasted from May 30 to June 7. He was greeted with a ceremonial ceremony and a Guard of Honour at the airport. Upon his visit, he was also greeted warmly by the Indian community.
