“Putin’s travel to Iran demonstrates how alone Russia has become”: White House

Vladimir Putin’s visit to Iran this week demonstrates how isolated Russia has become following its invasion of Ukraine, according to John Kirby, the principal spokesperson for the National Security Council at the White House, who spoke to reporters on Tuesday.
Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia, attended a press conference in Tehran following the summit of the Astana Process.

On Tuesday in Iran, Putin met with Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. This was Putin’s first travel outside the former Soviet Union since Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine on February 24.

Last week, the US claimed to have intelligence indicating that Tehran is getting ready to train Russian soldiers to operate up to several hundred drones, some of which are capable of carrying weapons. The foreign ministry of Iran refuted that.

On Tuesday, Kirby stated that there is currently no proof that Iran has handed Russia drones.
