According to sources, Chief Minister’s officials has stated that, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Morbi, a town in Gujarat, on Tuesday. On Sunday evening, a suspension bridge there collapsed, killing around 133 people.
Narendra Modi, who is now in Gujarat for a three days visit to launch and dedicate a number of infrastructure projects and also travel to Morbi on Tuesday afternoon. At the Ekta Day parade on Monday morning at the Statue of Unity, Modi expressed his sadness over the Morbi tragedy.
PM Modi further said that, in Kevadia, the site of the Ekta Parade, “On the one side, I have great heartache, and on the other, I have my path of duty to go”. I’m here because I have to, but my thoughts are with the families of the victims. I extend my condolences to the families of the people who lost their lives in the tragedy. The Gujarat BJP committee members were expecting a virtual speech from the Prime Minister on November 1 from Gandhinagar’s Mahatma Mandir.
The event has also been postponed, where BJP members from all of the state’s 182 assembly districts were expected to participate. In a manner similar to this, PM Modi was slated to do a roadshow in the Asarva neighbourhood of Ahmedabad on Monday before inaugurating a numerous Indian Railways projects.
The roadshow has been postponed, and Modi will only be present for the project’s launch, as per statement. The inauguration event will be performed similarly simply, with no banners or other decorations. According to the officials, it’s possible that the Prime Minister Modi won’t make any statements in public on the Morbi tragedy.
