PM Modi mentions Gandhi’s idea of “one planet, many efforts”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke on Sunday about Mahatma Gandhi’s discussion about a zero-carbon lifestyle, while urging people to choose the most sustainable solutions in their daily lives.

Modi, who gave a virtual keynote address at the opening of the “Lifestyle for the Environment (LiFE) Movement,” asked for the effort to become a global mass movement. “Our world is only one, but our efforts must be numerous.” “Mission LiFE’ borrows from the past, functions in the present, and looks to the future,” he continued.

He advocated for a lifestyle that is in tune with the world and does not destroy it, describing those who live this way as “pro-planet people.”Our planet’s issues are well-known, and the need of the hour is human-centric, joint efforts and robust actions that promote sustainable development, Modi said during the inauguration, which coincided with World Environment Day.

“Mahatma Gandhi advocated for a carbon-free lifestyle. Let us choose the most sustainable options in our daily lives. Let us follow the reuse, reduce, and recycle concept. Although our world is one, our efforts must be numerous. Many efforts, one earth “he statedIndia, according to Modi, is doing fantastic things for the environment. “As our forest cover grows, so does the number of lions, tigers, leopards, elephants, and rhinoceroses.”

He continued, “Our goal of obtaining 40% of installed electric capacity from non-fossil fuel-based sources was met nine years ahead of plan. We have achieved 10% ethanol blending in gasoline, five months ahead of schedule for the November 2022 deadline. Given that blending was barely 1.5 percent in 2013-14 and 5% in 2019-20, this is a significant achievement.”

The launch, according to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), will kick off a “LiFE global call for papers,” inviting ideas and suggestions from academics, universities, and research institutions to influence and persuade individuals, communities, and organisations around the world to adopt an environmentally conscious lifestyle.
