According to information, the officials have stated that, over fifteen people were severely harmed during clashes on Thursday as Army and RAF troops fired tear gas shells at the Kangvai and Phougakchao region in the Bishnupur district.
The district judges of Imphal East and Imphal West added the daytime restrictions to the overnight curfew that already existed in the Manipur valley. The state’s High Court also decided on Thursday morning to preserve things as they are at the scheduled burial spot in Churachandpur district.
And further postponing a mass burial for Kuki Zomi fatalities of ethnic violence in Manipur hours before the hostilities. The foremost tribal organization, the ITLF, also declared that it was postponing the burial of 35 individuals in the graveyard in the Haolai Khopi hamlet of the Churachandpur district, which is near to the Bishnupur border.
Thousands of people from the Bishnupur district have congregated on the streets since the early hours of the morning to disrupt the movement of security officers. The barricade put up by the Army and RAF soldiers was attempted to be breached by locals who wanted access to Tuibuong, the burial site.
The State Government also eliminated the daytime curfew relaxations in Imphal’s west districts out of prudence. Further, the district magistrates of Imphal imposed separate orders resuming the daytime curfew in reaction to unrest.
