Orange Alert In Pune!

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a “orange” alert for Pune, Satara, Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Palghar districts on Wednesday and a “yellow” alert for Thursday due to expected heavy rain in regions of Madhya Maharashtra and Vidarbha.

It lay over Chhattisgarh and adjoining east Madhya Pradesh. The system will move west-northwestwards and gradually weaken into a low pressure during the next 24 hours.

IMD’s National Bulletin

Vidarbha and Konkan meteorological subdivisions were classified as “Areas of Concern” in the IMD’s Flood Guidance Bulletin, which was released on Wednesday morning and issued a flood warning. This was released when the watersheds in these areas were above 85% saturated. Up till Wednesday night, the Vidarbha districts of Nagpur, Bhandara, Chandrapur, and Yavatmal will see moderate flash floods.

According to the IMD on Wednesday, Mahabaleshwar got 215.6 mm in the last 24 hours and remained one of the wettest regions in the nation for the day. Matheran also has had a decent spell thus far, receiving 131 mm.

Rainfall was also recorded at Dahanu (43.7 mm), Ratnagiri (35 mm), Satara (23.6 mm), Pune (23.2 mm), Kolhapur (22.9 mm), and Solapur in Maharashtra (16.8 mm).

The Met Department has issued a warning of heavy to very heavy rain (64 mm to 204 mm in 24 hours) over Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha in Maharashtra and eastern Rajasthan on Wednesday due to the influence of the well-marked low-pressure system and its subsequent movement.
