Northeast’s First Olympic Park To Be Inaugurated By Home Minister Amit Shah Today In Manipur

According to information, the first Olympic Park in the northeast is among the projects that Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister is laying cornerstones today in Manipur. The Manipur government built the first Olympic park in the area.

Further, it is close to the Sangaithel hills and contains memorials to state Olympians. But since 1984, Los Angeles Olympics, Manipur has generated 19 Olympians, including three in judo, seven in hockey, one in archery and four in boxing. The park will also feature sculptures of potential state Olympians.

A boxing, judo and weightlifting training facility developed in conjunction with Samsung will also be located in the park. Yesterday, the Home Minister Amit Shah travelled to the upcoming poll state of Tripura to kick off the Jan Viswas Yatra, which is regarded as the start of the BJP’s preparation for the Tripura elections.

Before the important general elections in 2024, Amit Shah had started a statewide yatra through 11 states. The home minister will meet with representatives of the Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organization (ENPO) while in Nagaland to go through their proposal for a breakaway state. ENPO had before threatened to not participate in the state’s assembly elections.

The Centre rejected the idea of turning six of the state’s districts into “Frontier Nagaland,” hence the Nagaland Cabinet has asked ENPO to reassess its aspirations for statehood. ENPO leaders has had an meeting with Home Ministry officials yesterday in Guwahati.
