According to information, the Upper Bhadra project in Karnataka, where elections are about to take place, would receive a 5,300 crore contribution from the Center, as stated in an announcement made on Wednesday by Nirmala Sitharaman.
In her budget presentation to the House of Representatives, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman further stated that “in the drought prone central regions of Karnataka, a government aid of 5,300 crore will be granted for the Upper Bhadra Project”.
Water will be transported as part of the Upper Bhadra Project at rates of 17.40 TMC from the river Thunga to the Bhadra dam and as well as the 29.90 TMC from the Bhadra reservoir for consumption in Upper Bhadra Project.
Since it will help the arid districts meet their water needs, the project is crucial for the state. In a statement, Karnataka’s Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai expressed his gratitude to the Union Government headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the Upper Bhadra project.
And the Chief Minister also expressed his gratitude to the Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for including a 5,300 crore grant for the state’s major Upper Bhadra project during this year’s Budget speech.
