Olympic gold winner Neeraj Chopra announced on Twitter on Sunday that he has donated his historic gold-medal-winning javelin from the Tokyo Olympics to the Olympic Museum in Lausanne. Abhinav Bindra, an additional Olympic gold medallist, travelled with Chopra.
It was an honour to visit the Olympic Museum yesterday and give my javelin for Tokyo 2020 there. I hope that the younger generation will be motivated by its presence to keep striving hard to achieve their goals. Because I was with @Abhinav Bindra sir, the moment was even more memorable, Neeraj wrote in his post.
The museum boasts an extensive 120-year collection, which includes the rifle used by Abhinav Bindra, the first Indian to win an Olympic gold medal in Beijing in 2008.
The International Olympic Committee’s Heritage division oversees the museum with the goal of preserving the Olympic legacy.
