The Indian Army honoured Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra on Thursday for his historic triumph in the Diamond League Final 2022.
The Rajputana Rifles, the subedar’s regiment of the Indian Army, greeted him warmly at the RAJ RIF Regimental Centre in the national capital. Lieutenant General CP Cariappa, Colonel of the Rajputana Rifles Regiment, also congratulated him.
“On his return from Switzerland after winning the Diamond League 2022 Championship Trophy, Sub Neeraj Chopra, PVSM, VSM was granted a spectacular greeting at RAJ RIF Regimental Centre, #NewDelhi.” Lt Gen CP Cariappa, Colonel of the Rajputana Rifles Regiment, also congratulated him,” the Indian Army stated in a tweet.
Last month, Neeraj Chopra, who made history by being the first Indian to win an Olympic medal in athletics, became the first Indian to win the coveted Diamond League Finals championship in Zurich, Switzerland.
