Nashik: At least eleven people were killed and 38 injured after a bus caught fire in Nashik district of Maharashtra early in the morning. The bus caught fire after colliding with a trailer truck carrying diesel on Aurangabad road.
In a statement, the chief minister’s office confirmed that “11 people are dead and 38 others are going under treatment at a hospital. “The government will bear the medical expenses of the wounded”, the CMO said.
“CM has announced an ex gratia of ₹ 5 lakhs each to the next of kin of those who died in this unfortunate incident. I am also going to the spot to assess the situation”, said Nashik guardian minister Dada Bhuse.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced a financial assistance of ₹ 2 lakh each for the families who have lost a member in the accident. The injured would get ₹ 50,000.
According to officials, a luxury passenger bus was involved in the accident on Nasik-Aurangabad Highway in the morning. The bus travelling from Yavatmal to Mumbai hit head-on with a truck going to Pune from Nashik, and caught fire.
