Mundka building Tragedy: At least 27 people, building didn’t have any fire NOC, owner fled

Delhi fire: (13-05-22) At least 27 people were killed in a devastating fire near the Mundka metro station in west Delhi on Friday, according to officials.
According to accounts, at least 30 more people have been injured, with a few stranded on the building’s third level.
Officials said that 20 fire trucks were dispatched to the scene after the fire was discovered at 4.40 p.m.
Officials stated that the cause of the incident would be probed.

“A total of 27 bodies were recovered from the 3-storey commercial building, which had caught fire this evening near Delhi’s Mundka metro station. The third floor is yet to be searched”,

said Atul Garg, Delhi Fire Director. The fire broke out in a building near pillar number 544, Mundka metro station, they said, adding the process of dousing the flames is underway.

Officials said at 11 pm, “Fire fighting operation has been concluded. Rescue operation continues, it will take time given the vastness of the area.”


The police claimed the commercial building that caught fire near Mundka metro station on Friday evening did not have a fire NOC while also notifying that the building owner is absconding, few hours after the fire was brought under control.

“The building did not have a fire NOC. The owner of the building has been identified as Manish Lakra who lived on the top floor. Lakra is currently absconding, teams are on the job and he will be nabbed soon,” DCP Sameer Sharma (Outer District) told reporters.
