Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train gets green light from Maharashtra Government

Devendra Fadnavis, Maharashtra’s deputy chief minister announced that all clearances have been given to the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet train project on Thursday. The project was convened in 2017 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Prime Minister Shinzo Abe of Japan.

The 508-km project was won by Larsen & Toubro Limited for design and construction and is helmed by National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited. This is the first bullet train project in India.

The train will reach speeds up to a maximum of 320km per hour and will travel via 12 stations in Maharashtra and Gujarat which include: Surat, Vadodara, Ahmedabad, Bharuch, Mumbai, and Thane. It aims to cover the whole distance in under 2 hours.

The fare of the bullet train is still under speculation. Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that it would similar to the First Class AC ticket fare but has not made any confirmed decision.
