Military exercise to be held between India and Oman in Rajasthan

New Delhi: Starting on Monday, India and Oman will conduct a nearly two-week military exercise with an emphasis on collaboration in the fight against terrorism. From August 1 to August 13, the “AL NAJAH-IV” exercise will be held at the Mahajan field shooting ranges in Rajasthan.
The Royal Army of Oman has sent a 60-person squad to the exercise’s location.

The combined military exercise, according to the defense ministry, aims to strengthen bilateral defense cooperation.

The 18 Mechanized Infantry Battalion will send soldiers to the drill to symbolize the Indian Army. The exercise’s last iteration was conducted in March 2019 in Muscat.

“The fourth edition of India-Oman joint military exercise ‘AL NAJAH-IV’ between contingents of Indian Army and the Royal Army of Oman is scheduled to take place at the Foreign Training Node of Mahajan Field Firing Ranges from August 1 to 13,”

Defense Ministry

It said that “professional contact, shared understanding of exercises and procedures, the construction of combined command – and – control systems, and the removal of terrorist threats” are all included in the exercise’s purportedly broad scope.

The combined exercise would organize collaborative physical training schedules, tactical exercises, tactics, and procedures, it added, with an emphasis on counterterrorism efforts, regional security operations, and peacekeeping missions under the United Nations charter.
