The tennis legends Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal resume their 16-year-old epic rivalry at the French Open on Tuesday, with a semi-final position on the line. For the 16th time, both men will play in the quarter-finals at Roland Garros in this much eagerly awaited encounter.
Nadal, who now is 36 years old, has a stellar record in Paris, with 109 wins yet only three defeats. In the fourth round, youthful Felix Auger-Aliassime pushed the Spaniard to five sets for only the third time in his tournament life.
Since their first clash in 2006 at the French Open, Djokovic does have a 30-28 record versus Nadal. Nadal won the season series 19-8 on clay and has won seven of the nine meetings in between two in Paris. Djokovic, but at the other hand, conquered the Roland Garros semi-finals in 2021, his path to a second victory.
Defeat at the hands, Nadal skipped Wimbledon, the Olympics, and the US Open before claiming the Australian Open and breaking a tie with Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer for the most Grand Slam championships.
Djokovic had strolled to the final eight in the setup to the epic match. The Serbian has won 22 sets in a succession, dating all the way back to his victory at the Italian Open in Rome. Officials have verified that the two will clash for the 59th time in their history in the late showdown at Court Philippe Chatrier. After nightfall, Nadal and Djokovic each played one match.
They’ve faced 58 times, which would be more than any other player. Djokovic has 30 triumphs to 28 losses in their head-to-head encounter. Serbians also have won the most finals, with 15 compared to 13 for Spaniards. Nadal, but at the other hand, has won the majority of their 17 Grand Slam encounters. He’s topped the opponent ten times and lost seven times.
