R Ashok, the Karnataka Revenue Minister, stated on Tuesday that all of the illegally built apartments on Rajakaluve in Bengaluru would be demolished. “By next monsoon season, we would have completed all the pending demolitions. And moreover, all apartments would be deconstructed, like you saw in Noida.
Action must be against authorities & builders”, said R Ashok in reference to the Rajakaluve encroachment. Apartments in Bengaluru City’s Rajakaluve, which has been encroached upon it by 30 to 40 IT companies, would be demolished without regard to their location.
As stated by the BBMP, IT Parks and developers who have encroached on stormwater drains include Bagmane Tech Park and Purva Paradise in Mahadevapura, RBD in three places, Wipro in Doddakannelli, Eco-Space in Bellandur, Gopalan in various areas, and Diya School in Hoodi.
The assembly also assessed the flooding in Bengaluru and the next steps, he added. Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) informed the high court that a recent survey had revealed 980 illegal buildings throughout the city. The BBMP’s notification to the high court stated that “Nalapad in Challaghatta is in addition to the list of IT Parks & developers trying to engage in stormwater drain encroachments”.
In response to a high court injunction issued on September 19 in conjunction with a Suo Moto Public Interest Litigation a poll was conducted (PIL). The BBMP is currently starting a demolition operation in the illegal commercial and residential buildings in the Mahadevapura neighbourhood after rainfall created floods in the city.
A BJP lawmaker named Arvind Limbavali blamed Bengaluru’s illegal encroachment for the floods. Limbavali stated that, so we started removing encroachment, which would take at least three months, and we will also handle the challenges associated with demolition.
