Vikram is still on a tear at the box office; on the 23rd day since its release, the Kamal Haasan-starring film has crossed the 400 crore rupee mark globally. Through its fourth Saturday, Vikram has made around Rs. 404 crores at the box office globally, of which approx. Rs. 284 crores ($15.35 million) came from India and approx.
On its Fourth Friday in India, Vikram made Rs. 2.75 crores in revenue before rising to Rs. 5 crores yesterday. The movie should earn between Rs. 13.50 and Rs. 14 crores on its fourth weekend, which is merely a reduction of 45% from the previous weekend. The Telugu states had the strongest hold this weekend, with scarcely any decline from the third weekend. The movie can now be easily cross 40 crores in the region.
Going into the fourth weekend, the Lokesh Kangaraj-directed crime saga was already the second-highest-grossing Kollywood film of all time, and it is now maintaining that position. It is the only Kollywood film to cross the $400 million mark, and what makes it unique is that the Hindi version contributed very little to its success.
Following is a breakdown of Vikram’s box office receipts per region:
