India’s First Unique Blood Group Discovered

A 65-year-old Gujarati man has been found to have EMM Negative, the first distinct blood type in the country. The rarest blood group in the world is EMM Negative. The Gujarati guy is the ninth individual in the world to have the most uncommon blood type.

The man, who has a cardiac condition, was discovered to have EMM Negative blood, which is the rarest blood type in the world. There are generally four blood types: A, B, O, or AB. The EMM Negative blood group cannot be categorised into any of these common blood types, though.

There are 42 different types of blood systems in the human body, including the A, B, O, Rh, and Duffy systems. EMM is present in significant concentrations in 375 distinct kinds of antigens.

Only 9 persons in the entire globe have the rarest blood type as of today, but a 65-year-old man from Rajkot, Gujarat, has been found to have it. The 65-year-old guy was receiving medical attention in Ahmedabad for a heart attack.

Since there is no EMM in the blood, the blood type has been classified as EMM negative by the International Society of Blood Transfusion (ISBT).

Those with rarest blood groups cannot donate their blood to anyone nor can they be given blood by anyone having another blood type including O+.

  1. I think like this may be blood groups in the future can be classified into many groups. Super to the team who found out

  2. Interesting read. There seems to be a lot more that can be discovered about the human body. Reminds me of the day when I received my school ID card where they had printed my blood group as L+ by accident 🤣
