According to sources, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the first indigenous aircraft carrier, INS Vikrant in Cochin Shipyard Limited in Kochi on September 2. A significant step towards Narendra Modi’s objective of self-reliance, which he has been a major proponent, for particularly in crucial industries, will be the launch of INS Vikrant.
It will be the very first aircraft carrier made entirely in domestic. The Warship Design Bureau (WDB) of the Indian Navy designed and built the Vikrant, the largest ship ever built in Indian navy history, at the Cochin Shipyard, a public shipyard.
They emphasised the fact that the carrier was named after India’s first, a legendary predecessor who played a significant role in the war of 1971.
Numerous pieces of domestic machinery and equipment are produced by more than 100 MSMEs nationally and in addition to major industrial conglomerates. With the launching of Vikrant, India will also have mainly two aircraft carriers, which would improve the maritime security of the nation.
Narendra Modi will also travel to Kerala and Karnataka on September 1and 2 to attend various events, including a trip to the Adi Shankaracharya birthplace town of Kalady, which is close to the Cochin airport. Additionally, Mr. Modi will commemorate and lay the foundation stone for building projects in Mangaluru worth more than 3,800 crores.
