India Women set to play 8th Asia Cup final against Sri lanka

India Women’s cricket team entered the final of the Asia Cup for eighth time after defeating Thailand Women by 74-runs. Thailand Women’s team was no match to mighty Indian girls. It was the first appearance for Thailand Women Cricket in Semi-final of Asia Cup.


The Indian women scored 148 runs for the loss of 6-wickets. Opener Shafali Verma was the top scorer- 42 runs. Deepti Sharma bowled exceptionally, conceding just 7 runs for 3-wickets in her 4 overs. In chase, Thailand could score only half of the total. Nattaya Boochatham was the top scorer for Thailand while in bowling Tippoch took 3-wickets for 24 runs. Shafali Verma was chosen the ‘Player of the match’. Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur also scored a valuable 36 runs.

Indian Captain Kaur praised Shafali Verma and Deepti Sharma for their performance. She said, “Deepti is someone who is willing to bowl at any stage. Having such a bowler always gives confidence”.

This is the eighth-edition of Women’s Asia Cup and Indian Women have always dominated it. The team has won 6 out of 7 Asia Cup trophies. Indian team was runner-up in 2018, losing to Bangladesh by 3-wickets.

Sri lanka Women defeated Pakistan Women today in a high thrilling match by just 1-run. The Sri lankan Women stolen an absolute mayhem off the final delivery. They will play the 2022 Asia Cup Final against India Women after 14 years. The final is set to be on Saturday at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, Bangladesh.
