Including Guards Colonel 19 Killed In Clashes Near Pakistan Border : Iran

According to sources, there were fierce firefights in the southeast Iranian province of Sistan-Baluchestan, which led to 19 deaths, which includes the colonel of the Revolutionary Guards. It was not immediately clear if the clashes were connected to the upsurge of unrest that has gripped.

Iran since Kurdish woman Mahsa Amini passed away while in the morality police’s care earlier this month. As per regional Governor Hossein Khiabani, the incident resulted in 19 dead and 20 injuries.

Further, they also reported the death of Colonel Ali Mousavi, a provincial intelligence officer for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. Sistan-Baluchistan, a poor region bordering Pakistan and Afghanistan, frequently sees clashes with drug trafficking organisations, Baluchi rebels, and Sunni Muslim extremist groups.

 Earlier, there were reports stating that, armed individuals stormed a police station in the provincial capital of Zahedan, and security officers responded by firing back.

As per the officials, the gunfire exchange resulted in the injuries of multiple police officers in addition to onlookers.
