IKEA’s foray into Mumbai Markets

IKEA plans to establish its first- ever city store in India in Mumbai, making it easier for the establishment’s clients to enter the city, the furnishings manufacturer promulgated on Tuesday. The Swedish retailer of home furnishings is now launching a modest megacity shop in Worli, Mumbai, which is set up at Kamala Mills, after the establishment of a large- format store in Navi Mumbai last time. “In line with IKEA’s long-term commitment to Maharashtra and India, the Worli store will be the first of its kind in India, following cities such as Paris, Moscow and Shanghai,” said a statement.

IKEA said that the Worli City Store will be followed by a another city store in Mumbai and that other stores would open over the course of the coming year due to its establishment belief in the prospect of the Indian market.

The city store size, which is between 50,000 and 100,000 square feet, enables IKEA to be acclimated to smaller locales in an civic terrain, as opposed to the classic mammoth IKEA blue box, which is normally, 40,000 to 50,000 square feet.

According to a statement from IKEA, the Worli store will be 80,000 square bases in size and open by the end of 2021 with all necessary safety preventives in place.
