Happy World Wide Web Day!

Every year on August 1, people celebrate World Wide Web Day. The day is observed in remembrance of the freedom with which individuals may search the internet for information. Every second, billions of people use the Web as a tool to communicate with the worldwide network of connected computer systems known as the Internet.

When Tim Berners-Lee was employed for the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) in Switzerland in 1989, he developed the World Wide Web. While employed by the company, Berners-Lee created the building blocks of the internet, including HTTP, HTML, the WorldWideWeb browser, a server, and the first website.

The WWW’s development was initially discussed with other research organisations and institutions throughout the course of the following two years. However, the public also had access to the WWW since CERN released the code and eliminated all licencing fees for its usage in 1993. Due to the quick advancements being made utilising the WWW, hundreds of websites were launched less than a year later, which led to the beginnings of the dot-com bubble in 1995.

Today, when we talk about the Internet, we mean the billions of web pages that are available and that we can access at any moment.

Many people might be unaware that what we often refer to as the Internet is actually a mix of the World Wide Web and the Internet. The collection of all websites, webpages, and materials that we may access is known as the World Wide Web. You might think of the Internet as the freeway connecting all of the webpages and websites.

The world is presently in the Information Age, which has been accelerated by the growth of the Web and the Internet.
