New Delhi: Air Vistara has been reprimanded ten lakh rupees by India’s aviation authority for breaching safety norms. The airline was levied a fine by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for authorizing an inexperienced pilot to land a flight with passengers in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore airport.
According to them, the pilot, who was also the flight’s first officer, recently landed the plane at the Indore airport without initially obtaining the necessary training in a simulator. “This was a serious violation endangering lives of the passengers on board,” an official commented
Landing simulators are used to teach flight pilots before they are authorised to land an aircraft with people on board. Before giving landing directions to the first officer, a captain undergoes comparable simulator training.
The first officer of the Vistara aircraft in concern landed the plane without having been trained in the simulator, which is really a major transgression that puts the passengers’ lives at peril. During such a landing in Indore, the lapse was discovered.
