Defence Minister Stated That Chinese Missiles Have Landed In Japan

As per Reports Japan’s Defence Minister Nobuo Kishi, five ballistic missiles believed to have been launched by China on Thursday landed in that country’s exclusive economic zone (EEZ).

According to Kishi, this was a first, and Japan had made its disapproval known through diplomatic channels. “A severe challenge that threatens our National security and the security of our population”, was how Kishi described the situation.

China has pledged to one day absorb Taiwan and, if necessary, use force to do it.

According to the minister, five of the nine ballistic missiles China fired are believed to have landed in Japan’s Exclusive Economic Zone. The development occurs as China conducts major military drills in the waters surrounding Taiwan following Speakers of the US House of Representative Nancy Pelosi’s visit, despite stern warnings from Beijing.

Kishi states that the Japanese side thought nine missiles were fired. Okinawa, Japan’s southernmost island, is close to Taiwan. Beyond Japan’s territorial seas, the EEZ stretches up to 200 nautical miles from its coast.
