Corona vaccine booster dose time reduced from 9 months to 6 months

The pace of Corona has started accelerating again in the country. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health has reduced the gap between booster doses of two corona vaccines from 9 months to six months. Earlier, the prevention dose of corona vaccine was given after an interval of 9 months or 39 weeks. In a notice issued by the Union Health Ministry, it has been said that the Standing Technical Sub Committee (STSC) of the National Technical Advisory Group on Immunization (NTAGI) has revised the earlier advice according to the evidence found at the global level.

Booster Dose for 18-59 Years

According to the new advisory, the STSC has considered the gap between the booster dose or the precautionary dose of Corona to be 6 months or 26 weeks. NTAGI has given its recommendation on this. Therefore, it was decided that the booster dose of corona vaccine should be given to the persons between 18 and 59 years after a gap of 6 months or 26 weeks. That is, if someone has got a booster dose of the vaccine today, then on the day of completion of 6 months from today, he can apply the second dose of the booster dose.

Free booster dose to people above 60 years

Apart from this, people who are above 60 years of age will get booster dose at government centre free of cost. For them too, the gap between two booster doses would be only six months. Health workers and frontline workers will also get booster doses for free. Information related to this vaccine has been uploaded on the Covin app. In this regard, the concerned authorities will have to give wide publicity to it.
