Congress And Nationalist Congress Party Formed Pre-Poll Alliance In Gujarat, Sharad Pawar Led-Party To Contest Three Seats

Assembly in Gujarat are set to take place next month, and top leaders from both opposition parties announced on Friday that, the state branches of the Congress and also the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) have forged a pre-poll alliance with the aim of unseating the state’s ruling BJP.

The deal specified that Sharad Pawar’s NCP will contest 3 of the state’s seats. The three seats are currently held by lawmakers from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which is in power. In the approaching elections for the state’s assembly, the NCP will conduct an campaign against Congress campaign. Jagdish Thakor, president of the Gujarat Congress. further said that, the NCP will contest three seats: Umreth of Anand district, Naroda from Ahmedabad and Devgadh Baria (Dahod district).

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is aiming for a sizable vote share and expressing confidence in its ability to defeat the ruling BJP in the Gujarat assembly elections this year. The AAP is currently attempting to capture control of Gujarat in order to cement its standing as a “national party” following its recent resounding win over the Congress in Punjab in March 2022.

The state is also the native state of Prime Minister Narendra Modi as well as Union Home Minister Amit Shah. On the other hand, the BJP is campaigning to continue its nearly 30 years rule in the state. At the 2017 Gujarat assembly elections, the Congress and the NCP each launched separate campaigns, and they later fought each other in the 2019 Lok Sabha general elections.
