According to information, after a bus carrying between 45 to 50 people from a wedding party crashed into a canyon in the Bironkhal village of Uttarakhand’s Pauri district, the disaster control centre issued a warning that significant losses were expected.
As per reports, officials stated that, the bus was engaged in an accident not far from the Simri bend while it was travelling from Laldhang to a village in Bironkhal. The accident occurred around 7:30 p.m.
Rescue efforts have begun with the help of the villagers, though they said that nightfall is complicating the rescuers’ work.
As stated by sources, there are no lighting at the accident zone, and people are using the cellphone flashlights to try to rescue passengers who are trapped inside the bus. They also mentioned the possibility of many casualties.
Circle Officer Sadar Premlal Tamta confirmed the event and said that officers had arrived at the accident place from the Dhumakote and Rikhnikhal police stations. In connection with the bus accident in Pauri Garhwal district, Pushkar Singh Dhami, the State’s Chief Minister, has also flown to the State Disaster Management center.
