BJP protests over fuel price hike in TN, calls out DMK

The BJP’s Tamil Nadu wing mounted a big demonstration in Chennai on Tuesday, demanding that the state’s DMK-led government to keep its campaign pledge of slashing cost of fuel by Rs 5 per litre and diesel pricing by Rs 4 per litre, as well as subsidizing cooking gas cylinders.

Thousands of workers took part in the rally, that was spearheaded by Tamil Nadu BJP unit president K Annamalai, who raised slogans against the DMK regime.

The party had alleged that this they would march from the Egmore protest site to the Secretariat. However, barriers were placed and a substantial number of police officers were deployed to prevent BJP cadres from approaching the Secretariat.

“The next two years are going to be like this. Be prepared to get arrested, to face false cases. We need to make a lot of sacrifices to achieve our goal,” said Annamalai.

The BJP representative also said that the state’s law and order is declining, and that women are afraid to just go down the road alone.

He declared that the the 2024 Lok Sabha election winners will definitely be the without a doubt, and that the organization expects to win 25 seats from Tamil Nadu.

Later, the BJP leader proceeded to Twitter to warn that while the DMK administration continues to be anti-people, their cadres will organize a one-day hunger strike and convene in Tiruchirapalli in significant masses to protest against the M K Stalin-led government.
