According to sources, on Monday, there was a fuel leak and then an engine problem as NASA prepared to launch its potent new moon rocket Artemis I on a shakedown trip with three test dummies aboard. The next launch attempt will mostly not take place until Friday.
Because of a leak of extremely explosive hydrogen in the same spot that saw leakage during such a practice run back in the spring, NASA had to stop and restart the Space Launch System rocket’s refueling numerous times as precious seconds ticked away.
As per NASA, additional challenges arose as one of the rocket’s four main engines could not be sufficiently frozen. Engineers continued to gather data and determine the origin of the problem after the launch was postponed.
A space craft was ready to launch aboard the rocket on a mission to orbit the moon. The launch is indeed a crucial step in the United States mission to send astronauts back to the moon for the very first time since its Apollo program was shut down 50 years ago.
The NASA spacecraft Artemis is more efficient and powerful than the Saturn V that carried the Apollo astronauts to the moon and it has a diameter of 322 feet approximately 98 metres. When asked whether, NASA might try another launch, launch commentator Derrol Nail indicated the problem was still being looked into and that “we need to wait to see what comes out from their testing results”.Â
The launch, which is scheduled to take place, will signal the start of NASA’s 21st-century space exploration mission, known as Artemis in honour of Apollo’s famous twin sister.
