Army Chopper crashed in Arunachal Pradesh, Pilot killed

A Cheetah helicopter of the Indian Army crashed in Arunachal Pradesh in the morning, killing a pilot and injuring co-pilot, said the Army. According to the Army, the Cheetah chopper flew for its regular sortie but it crashed in a forward area near Tawang at around 10 am.

According to Army sources, after the crash both the pilots were evacuated to the nearest military hospital, but Lt Col Saurabh Yadav, who was critically injured, died during treatment. The co-pilot is under treatment.

The cause of the crash is known till now. Details are being ascertained”, said Army.

The cases of crashes of Defence fighter jets, helicopters and other vehicles are not new. Mostly cases of Mig-Bison comes and everytime our pilots have to lose their life. India’s first CDS Bipin Rawat died in Air Force’s Mi-17 V5, the most advanced and the safest helicopter which is even used for VVIPs like PM Modi.
