Due to a stress fracture in his lower back, England fast bowler Jofra Archer has been ruled out of the 2022 English summer.
He has been ruled out for the remainder of the season after being diagnosed with a back injury, meaning he will not be fit to play until the end of September at the earliest, according to the England and Wales Cricket Board.
In a statement, the ECB stated that no timetable for his comeback had been determined.
“There is no timetable for his return.” The ECB stated that “a management plan will be devised following further expert opinion in the coming days.”
Archer, who last played for England in March 2021, was set to return from a long-term elbow injury for Sussex in the T20 Blast next week, with warm-up matches scheduled before the team’s first match against Glamorgan.
Archer hasn’t played competitive cricket or international cricket since May of that year, when he underwent the first of two elbow operations.
