According to Sources, five members who were leaders in the Congress party in Jammu and Kashmir left the group after Ghulam Nabi Azad tendered his resignation on Friday. The leaders were all friendly with the Congress veterans.
A joint letter was written in this regard by the leaders, comprising GM Saroori, Haji Abdul Rashid, Mohd Amin Bhat, Gulzar Ahmad Wani, and Choudhari Mohd Akram. RS Chib, a former cabinet minister and prominent Congress leader, also quit the party’s core group of supporters.
Chib stated that he thought the Congress had failed to adequately address the needs of Jammu and Kashmir since Azad was not there to guide the masses in that direction. “I so submit my resignation from the core organizational of the Congress”, he said as a result.
The man said, “We knew he would leave because we had been negotiating for the last two months”. Ghulam Nabi Azad was forced over the brink by the party high command, and had no choice but to quit the party and its core members.
In his termination letter to temporary Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Azad claimed that the leadership had committed fraud under the pretence of “fake” internal elections. He also claimed that the party had been totally destroyed.
As stated by Ghulam Nabi Azad, the Congress is no longer able or willing to manage the party’s affairs because of the cabal’s influence. Azad broke off his more than fifty-year association with the venerable old party.
