After a gas leak at Visakhapatnam chemical factory, 87 female workers have been ill

On Friday, a gas leak was discovered in a laboratory at a chemical facility in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, causing at least 87 people to feel sick. The gas leak happened at a factory in Atchutapuram, Visakhapatnam, where Porus Laboratories Pvt Ltd, a veterinary drugs company, is also located.

Anakapalle SP Gautami Sali said “at present all workers’ health is stable (and) no casualties (have been) reported”. The source of the gas leak is still unknown, and the Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board and police are investigating.

The gas was initially thought to have spilled from Porus Laboratories Pvt Ltd. The forensic teams have arrived on scene and are working to determine the cause of the gas leak.

YS Jagan Reddy, the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, has directed officials to treat individuals who are ill with care. He also requested that the local minister pay a visit to the crime scene. The CM stated that the incident would be investigated and that steps would be taken to prevent such events in the future.
