Laal Singh Chaddha, may have underperformed domestically, but it set numerous records at the international box office. Reports say that the Forrest Gump remake has surpassed blockbusters like Gangubai Kathiawadi, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, and The Kashmir Files to become the highest-grossing Hindi movie of 2022 in foreign markets.
Laal Singh Chaddha has managed to exceed Gangubai Kathiawadi ($7.47 million), Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 ($5.88 million), and The Kashmir Files ($5.7 million) with $7.5 million (Rs 59 crore) in more than a week since its premiere. Comparatively, all three of those films were huge successes in India. However, the Telugu hit RRR has brought in about $20 million from foreign markets.
On the other hand, Laal Singh Chaddha has managed to earn just over Rs 55 crore. The movie’s production got underway before the pandemic and had a reported budget of Rs 180 crore. Before the movie’s debut in theatres earlier this month, parts of it were shot in fits and starts over the previous three years. The current global gross for Laal Singh Chaddha is Rs 126 crore.
